Make a plentiful supply of clean, great tasting water!
Raw Bincho charcoal is dirty and not suited for use in boiling. Wash each piece under running water. You can use a scrub brush to help in the process.
Do not use detergent to wash the Bincho charcoal! The chemicals in the detergent will destroy the beneficial effects of the charcoal (not to mention spoil the taste of the water).
Now sterilize it in boiling water. Use a large pot or pressure cooker (uncovered). Place all of the Bincho charcoal into a pot of cold water and bring it to a boil. When it comes to full boiling point, reduce the heat and boil for about ten minutes.
Take out the Bincho charcoal immediately and put it into a colander. Wring out the water and let it cool down.
The normal amount of Bincho charcoal needed is 16oz. (four piece of 1.25 x 3.25 inch Bincho charcoal) per 1 gallon of water.
Slowly submerge the Bincho charcoal into a vessel filled with water.
Cover with a dishtowel to keep out dust and let it sit for 24 to 48 hours.
Stainless steel, enamel, glass, or ceramic vessels are recommended for this process.
Pour this water into a pot for cooking or bottle it and keep it in the refrigerator. This is your purified water!
Replenish the used portion of water from the vessel containing the Bincho charcoal to generate more purified water. You can continue this process for a week.
The purified water can be used for cooking, drinking water, coffee, tea, and in alcoholic beverages. The Bincho charcoal enhances these drinks to full flavor.
To preserve the remaining water, bottle it and keep it in the refrigerator. (You can put small pieces of Bincho charcoal in these bottles too!) Suitable temperature for drinking water is 50 to 60°F.
Caution! Do not put Bincho charcoal into a container with tea bags. Put the tea bag into water which has already been purified.
Clean the absorbed dirt off of the Bincho charcoal about once a week. The method is: Boil, let cool and dry for one week. To reuse the Bincho charcoal, simply start from number 1 again. It is best to prepare two batches of charcoal and rotate them weekly. They can be used for half a year with this method!
After the Bincho charcoal has been used for 6 months, put the charcoal into a cotton sachel and use it in the bathtub, so you can enjoy a charcoal bath. After that, crush it and bury it in a flowerbed or home field. It will still be great to improve your soil.
